I decided that tomorrow I am going to go donate blood. I recently (about a year ago) found out that I have AB type blood, which is the universal donor... which means I want to give blood as often as I can. I went to go donate at the blood bank last summer, but they turned me away because I had gone through malaria-infected areas of Guatemala in March and they made me wait a year.
Now they're on campus and I have a free morning so I'm going to go for it. It makes me nervous and light-headed, and I don't much like needles, but it's worth it to know that someone somewhere may need to use my blood in order to sustain life.

There's an interesting analogy between blood and life in Deuteronomy that sheds a lot of light on the cross and the fact that we say we are "saved by the blood of Christ." Blood in the Old Testament represented life. Guess they weren't so primitive, were they?
